About me

Hi

My name is Theresia and I live in Winchester (Hampshire), UK with my husband, three kids and Toby the cat.

I have been making things since I was a small girl. I believe that I inherited my talents from my mother who was an amazing sewer and cook.

I was brought up in Holland (Amsterdam) and we have moved to Sydney, Australia in 1990. I started making little bread dough mice at home with the kids in Holland and then Australia where some friends encouraged me to sell them.

An editor of a well known Australian Craft Magazine saw my work and offered to profile my work in their magazine. After that I did lots of projects for a number of Australian Craft magazines and books, which was was one of the highlights of my life. After living 8 years in Sydney my husband was offered a job back in Europe and we first moved to Holland for a year before settling in the UK.

In 1998 I moved on to sewing and designing cloth dolls as well as painting on wood in the American New England and Primitive styles. I have sold lots of painted projects and cloth dolls through shops and Craft Fairs both here in the UK and overseas.

In 2005 I discovered 60's / 70's style dolls and since then I have fallen more and more in love with making them. As the demand for these dolls has grown I decided it was time to establish a dedicated web site.

Most of my inspiration for making my dolls come from Japanese doll designers ( Warutsu and Shinzi Katoh) and also from looking at 60's fabric, dolls, vintage children books and magazines.. They are such an inspiration for me every day.

Last but not least I like to thank my two Japanese friends Emi and Megumi as well as my Korean friend Amy (Kitty Craft) who introduced me to this amazing style of craft by providing me with lots of help to get started.

Thanks for browsing through my shop and I hope that you will be back.
